Jana Ruth began her “encore career” with the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits in November 2015 as the Director of Shared Services, where she enjoys utilizing her financial and project management expertise to assist Oklahoma nonprofits. The goal of OKCNP’s Shared Services Program is to be the “go to” resource for Oklahoma’s nonprofits requiring efficient, effective, and high-quality back-office administrative support and customer service. Shared Services is a cost effective alternative within the non-profit sector that adds value in numerous quantifiable ways. As NPOs are faced with both internal and external pressures to do more with less, Shared Services is an attractive option that frees up resources that are needed for mission critical processes.
Jana Ruth brings a wealth of professional knowledge and experience to the nonprofit sector and is happy to share it through her work, consulting, and teaching! She retired in 2001 after 29+ years with Southwestern Bell / AT&T and honed her analytical skills in corporate accounting and finance with a local medical device manufacturing company following her “first retirement.” She obtained her undergraduate degree in accounting from Oklahoma City University and was conferred an MBA from the University of Dallas Graduate School Of Management in Irving, TX.
Her passion for finding meaning in numbers has resulted in over 30+ years working with several 501c(3) and other Oklahoma nonprofits in governance and finance; including Prevent Blindness Oklahoma, YWCA of Oklahoma City, and the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma. She has served as the Treasurer for SISU Youth, Inc., a local nonprofit whose goal is to empower Oklahoma City’s homeless youth and provide them a safe space.
Jana Ruth is a member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, Leadership Oklahoma City Alumni Association, Oklahoma City University Alumni Association, and the American Association of University Women. She is committed to continuous learning and is an active member of the OSCPA Financial Literacy and Accounting Careers Committees. She is currently the President-Elect and former Treasurer for the OSCPA – Oklahoma City Chapter and serves on the Leadership OKC Alumni Board. Additionally, she is a Life Member of the NAACP and an Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women Advisory Council Member.
Jana Ruth is a wife, mother, and grandmother and understands that the love of one’s family is truly one of life’s greatest blessings. She and her husband, Clarence, have two adult children, 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandson! She is an amateur genealogist, Sudoku Guru, rarely passes on a road trip, and will drive a hundred miles to ride a classic wood carousel!
