Position Description:

SUMMARY

The Foster Care Recruiter is responsible for community outreach, recruiting foster parents, providing orientation, pre-service training and completing the resource assessment certification for foster parents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Demonstrate capacity for providing developmentally appropriate practice, for exemplifying the values expected within the program, and for promoting the mission of the organization.
  • Develop and implement community awareness activities to increase the availability of foster homes for children served by the organization.
  • Develop and implement detailed recruitment activities as it pertains to the Sunbeam Annual Recruitment Plan.
  • Establish and maintain community contacts including but not limited to schools, community organizations, faith based organizations, and service groups. Provide reports and evaluate community engagement opportunities.
  • Meet the Sunbeam Strategic Plan metrics of contacts, inquiries and number of certified foster homes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for potential foster families until certification, including conducting initial orientation, training and linking to home study provider, including roviding prompt and thorough face to face response with potential foster parents to begin the certification process.
  • Design and implement orientation and training for foster parents.
  • Provide all necessary record keeping and reporting functions as required of prospective foster homes, e.g. criminal history checks, JOLTS, fingerprints, references etc.
  • Serve as on-call support for resource families on a rotating basis with other members of the foster care staff team.
  • Assesses and completes monthly reports for children who have remained in foster care for 30 days and over
  • Participates in reflective supervision.
  • Be on call for placements and crisis intervention as determined by the Director of Foster Care and/or their designee
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Director of Foster Care and/or their designee

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Adhere to all agency program, contract and licensing standards to ensure that program is in full compliance with these policies.
  • Maintain and complete all necessary records, documentation and reports in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in Performance Quality Improvement activities, including the monitoring of impacts and outcomes, and responding to identified needs of the program.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with community contacts so that agency services and employees are viewed as professional and ethical.
  • Perform duties as necessary and assigned so that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Accept all other duties assigned by direct supervisor and carries these out in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform required duties in a manner that demonstrates compliance with Sunbeam's Culturally Competent Practice Policy

Position Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA or BS from an accredited college/university in social work, public relations or related field preferred, with a minimum of four years of demonstrated experience recruiting and training resource families preferred.

  • Must possess maturity and judgment consistent with the high level of responsibility Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must have working knowledge of developmental milestones of children and possess ability to relate to them in an effective manner.
  • Ability to work with co-workers in a constructive manner and provide support to them when needed
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model to foster parents by being reliable and dependable Maintain positive work attitude that promotes positive work relationships
  • Must possess proficient computer skills Must have good organizational skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Windows, and on the Internet, type 30 wpm (prefer 40+), basic knowledge of database management (prefer intermediate), ability to efficiently and effectively work the following standard office equipment including but not limited to: telephone, copier, facsimile machine, scanner.
